Difference between
Hydrator and Moisturiser:
Water plays the main role is making sure your skin stays
healthy, smooth and radiant. Moisturizer and hydrator both make sure that the
skin is getting all the water it needs to fight dryness and dehydration,
premature signs of aging and environmental effects. Hydrator infuses your skin
cells with water and improves skin’s ability to absorb moisture and nutrients.
On the other hand, moisturizer traps and seals moisture to protect the skin,
prevent water loss and keep skin soft and smooth. In short a dehydrated skin
needs hydrator and a dry skin needs moisturizer.
Verdict:
The hydrator is peach-colour cream-gel that gives cooling
and soothing effect after application. It absorbs quickly into the skin. It
does not look cakey or oily on the skin.
It brightens the skin and makes it soft and plump. I have used this
product in both summer and winter.
In winters, my skin is very dry I have to use moisture 2-3
times in a day. But when I started using this product I was good to go the
whole day. I would recommend using a serum under this hydrator or oily
moisturizer over this hydrator if you have super dry skin. Of course I has to
reapply this hydrator after I wash my face.
In summer, my skin is combination type. This is the best
product to use in summer because it is gel-based that gives a cooling effect
and second it is very light on skin.
The hydrator is non-greasy and non-oily. Clinique claims
that it is auto-replenishing up to 72 hours (i.e. 3 days). But once you wash
your face most of the product is washed off, some of the product gets absorbed
and still hydrate the skin. So it is not practical that you will use it the
first day and then not use any moisturizer for 3 days. The 72-hour auto
replenishing property might improve your skin self-hydration if you use it for
a long time.
It does not have a floral or fruity smell. It does have a
smell but it is very mild clean smell that will not irritate the nose. So if you
like your skin products to be fragrance free definitely go for this. But if you
like floral or fruity smelling products then look for something else.
It is also Parabens free and Phthalates free. What is that?
So Parabens are preservative used in cosmetics and Phthalates are used to
increase durability and longevity of cosmetics. Some researches claims that
they have harmful effects on our body.
I have used this product under my makeup. Makeup application
is easier after its application. I dabbed a little product over my makeup on my
dry patches. This is a big help if you have to wear makeup for long time. I
mixed it with a liquid highlighter to get a dewy finish.
I used it as mask one time. Though the skin feels super
smooth and moisturized but this is an expensive product; instead use a
sheet-mask it will give you the same result in less cost.
It is a Clinique product; it is going to be expensive. But a
little amount spreads evenly on the skin and it does what it says. I would
recommend you to buy a small version and see how it works for you.
Pros:
- Gel-based product
- Fragrance free
- Parabens free
- Phthalates free
- Cooling effect
- Brighter looking skin
Cons:
- Expensive (It is a luxury product)
- Some of the claims are not practical
- Don’t buy if you don’t like fragrance free products
Will I repurchase? Yes (I am on my 3rd tub)
